1. Who we are

WorkSpeak (“we”, “us”) operates an online English-language coaching app for working professionals at workspeak.org. For privacy questions, contact privacy@workspeak.org.

2. What we collect

Account data: email, display name, optional job role, language confidence level.
Usage data: sessions, lessons completed, XP earned, badges, streaks, saved phrases.
AI interactions: the text you submit to the sentence improver, roleplay, and coach. Not used to train external models.
Device data: browser, locale, timezone, and basic analytics events for diagnostics.
Billing data: handled by our payment processor; we never store full card numbers.

3. How we use your data

To provide the service, personalize lessons to your level and role, calculate streaks and achievements, prevent abuse, comply with law, and (only with your consent) send product and marketing emails. You can unsubscribe at any time from any email we send.

4. Legal basis (GDPR)

We process personal data under one or more of: performance of contract, legitimate interest in operating and improving the service, your consent, and legal obligations.

5. Sharing

We share data with vetted processors: cloud hosting, database, AI inference, email delivery, and analytics. We require each to provide GDPR-grade safeguards. We do not sell personal data.

6. International transfers

Data may be processed outside your country, including the EU/EEA and the United States, under Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms.

7. Retention

We retain account data while your account is active and for up to 24 months after you close it, unless a longer period is required by law (e.g. tax records).

8. Your rights

You can access, correct, export, or delete your data, restrict or object to processing, and withdraw consent at any time. Email privacy@workspeak.org. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

9. Cookies

We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies (session, auth) and, with your consent, basic analytics cookies to understand product usage. You can manage consent from the cookie banner at any time.

10. Children

WorkSpeak is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from them.

11. Changes

We will post material changes here and, where appropriate, notify you by email. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
